Casting Calls
The Playmakers have "casting calls" rather than traditional auditions for most plays. The only exceptions are musicals, and some youth productions. In a casting call, emails are sent to our audition list and publicized in the press. If you want to be in a show please call the director. If you are new to The Playmakers, the director will want to audition you privately or with other actors. See the Current Shows for performance dates and descriptions of plays.
The Playmakers have an email audition list for both adults and youth. Notices about auditions are sent to area media as well, and occasionally to the entire mailing list. If you wish your name placed on one of these lists, please leave a message for us at 918-786-8950.
The audition process is fun, not scary. If there is a general audition, the director will have people read different parts from the script. Most people have not read the script before the auditions. In the case of musicals, those auditioning are encouraged to prepare a short musical number that shows off their talent. Any such requirements are announced in advance, but you may contact the director in advance to answer any questions you might have.
It is the policy of The Playmakers to cast regardless of race, color, or disability. Determined by the quality of the auditions, the director will cast the best choice for each role after everyone has had an opportunity to audition. On occasion, a cast might be expanded to accommodate a large turnout of performers. Or, if necessary, a cast member might be asked to play double roles. A performer may be pre-cast by the director; in such cases, the audition notices will contain this information. An invitation to audition by a director does not guarantee a role in the cast.
